Summary: Revised and duplicate marksheets of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education will now be printed at divisional offices instead of the Bhopal headquarters. The arrangement, effective from 1 November 2026, will directly benefit students of the Indore division, who will no longer have to depend on Bhopal for their corrected documents. Printing at the Indore office, however, will begin only after the required data arrives from Bhopal.

Students across Madhya Pradesh have received a welcome relief. The Board of Secondary Education has decentralised the printing of revised marksheets. Until now, a corrected marksheet was printed at the board headquarters in Bhopal and then sent to the applicant’s address. Because cases from across the state reached a single office, the process took a long time. Under the new arrangement, printing has been handed over to divisional offices, so that students receive their documents faster.

What has changed

The change concerns only the place of printing, not the whole application process. Under the board’s standing order, the work of printing revised marksheets was transferred to divisional offices from 1 November 2026. For students of the Indore division, revised marksheets will now be printed at the Indore divisional office itself. Earlier, dependence on the Bhopal headquarters meant waiting for weeks, and in many cases for months.

The arrangement also covers duplicate marksheets and certificates. In other words, whether a marksheet is lost, damaged, or needs a correction, students can now expect to receive the document from their own division’s office. The board’s objective is clear: bring the service closer to the student and reduce dependence on centralised printing.

How the old system worked

Understanding the old system is important, because it explains the benefit of the new one. Students applied for corrections through MP Online. Coordinating institutions in the districts examined the cases on their merits. Once a correction was approved, the case was sent to the board headquarters’ login.

After that, the revised marksheet was printed centrally in the records room at Bhopal and dispatched to the applicant by speed post. Since cases from every district of the state reached the same place, the workload grew and delays followed. Even a small error, such as a spelling mistake in a name or a wrong date of birth, could mean a long wait for correction.

Many students have said that not receiving the revised marksheet on time created problems in further admissions, document verification, and joining jobs. In some cases, employment opportunities were affected because the required document was not available in time. This hardship forms the background to the new arrangement.

The position in Indore right now

The news matters especially for students in Indore, because the Indore divisional office has now received the authority to print. Divisional officer Jyoti Bhaskar has confirmed that approved revised marksheets will be printed at the Indore office. The arrangement applies to students within the jurisdiction of the Indore division.

One important point must be stated clearly: printing at the Indore office has not yet begun. The office is waiting for the necessary data from the Bhopal headquarters. Local printing will begin only after that data transfer is complete. Students should therefore understand that the arrangement has come into force, but its practical benefit in Indore will follow once the data arrives. The success of the new system will depend largely on the speed of this data transfer and on efficient processing at the divisional level.

What has not changed in the application process

The most important point for students is that the application process remains exactly as before. Applications will continue to be accepted only through MP Online. District coordinating institutions will continue to examine correction cases and decide them on their merits, as they did earlier. After approval, the case will move forward, but it will not go to Bhopal for printing.

The existing application procedure and other instructions for duplicate marksheets, certificates, and revised marksheets remain unchanged. Students do not need to adopt any new form, any new website, or any different method. The only change is that, after approval, printing will be done by the divisional office.

Which students will benefit most

Every year, around 18 lakh students appear for the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations in the state. Of them, nearly 8,000 to 10,000 students find errors in their marksheets and apply for corrections after the results are declared. The number may look small, but for each of those students, the marksheet is the gateway to the next stage of life.

Students who need corrections in their name, date of birth, subject, or other details will benefit directly. Accurate academic records are essential for college admissions, competitive examinations, scholarships, and employment. With printing at the local level, students will also find it easier to track the printing stage through their local divisional office. Students from far-flung areas will be freed from running around offices in Bhopal.

Digital signature plan

The board is also preparing another reform, connected to uniformity of signatures. At present, revised marksheets carry the signatures of the respective divisional officers. Different signatures on marksheets issued by different offices have sometimes led to disputes about why the documents look different.

To avoid such discrepancies, the board plans to use the digital signature of its secretary on all such documents, irrespective of the issuing divisional office. This plan is still at the preparation stage; it has not been announced as implemented. Students should therefore treat it as a future plan, not as part of the present arrangement.

What students should keep in mind

First, apply only through MP Online and submit all documents related to the correction correctly. Second, students of the Indore division should not assume that local printing has already started; it will begin after the data arrives from Bhopal. Third, since the earlier rules for duplicate and revised marksheets continue to apply, students should confirm with the board’s divisional office before believing any claim about a new fee or a new procedure.

Fourth, do not treat a small error in the marksheet lightly. A mistake in the spelling of a name, the date of birth, or a subject can become a major problem later, at the time of admission or employment. Checking the marksheet carefully after the results are declared, and applying for correction in time if an error is found, is in the students’ own interest.

What happens next

The real test of the new arrangement will come in the coming weeks, when divisional offices, including Indore, receive data from Bhopal and local printing begins. If the data transfer is completed on time and the divisional offices work efficiently, students will receive their revised marksheets sooner than before.

The same arrangement has come into force in other divisional offices, including Jabalpur, so the change is not limited to Indore alone. Students across the state are expected to benefit. The board’s initiative is a concrete step towards bringing education administration closer to the student. Attention will now remain on how quickly and transparently the divisional offices discharge this new responsibility.
