Greetings Dear Followers
Today’s Topic – Benefic and Malefic Planets in Different Lagnas
Today we will start with Aries and Taurus Lagnas.
In Aries Lagna, Sun, Moon and Jupiter are benefic (Karak). Because Sun is the lord of the 5th house (Trikona), Moon is the lord of the 4th house, and Jupiter is the lord of the 9th house (Trikona). Mars is also Karak as it is the Lagnesh.
In Aries Lagna, Mercury, Venus and Saturn are considered Akarak (Malefic), because they are natural enemies of the Lagnesh. Mercury is also 6th lord, Venus is 2nd and 7th lord, hence called Marak. Since Aries is a Char Lagna, Saturn being the 11th lord becomes Badhak.
In Taurus Lagna, Saturn is considered the most Yog Karak because it owns both a Kendra and a Trikona. Sun is considered Karak as it owns the 4th house (Kendra). Venus is Karak as it is the Lagnesh.
In Taurus Lagna, Jupiter is the lord of the 8th house. Mercury owns a Trikona and remains neutral, while Mars is strongly Akarak. Mars and Jupiter are called Marak for this Lagna.
One more important point: Lagnesh is always Karak, even if its second sign falls in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house. For example, in Taurus Lagna, Venus’s second sign falls in the 6th house, still it does not get the Dosha of 6th lord. In Aries Lagna, Mars’s second sign falls in the 8th house, still it does not get the Dosha of being 8th lord.
Second rule: If one sign of a planet falls in a Trikona, even if its other sign falls in 6, 8, 12, it will not get Marak or Akarak Dosha. For example, in Leo Lagna, Jupiter is 5th and 8th lord, but it will still be considered Karak because one of its signs falls in Trikona. Although in its Mahadasha, it will give results of both 5th and 8th houses, but in a different manner. You should apply this rule to other Lagnas as well.
We will discuss Karak and Marak for Gemini and Cancer Lagna in the next post.
