Madhya Pradesh is celebrating its 71st Foundation Day, and the three-day Rajyotsav in Bhopal is honouring farmers and meritorious students in a special way. As many as 165 winners of the Kisan Swabhiman Parv quiz will receive tractors, Bullet motorcycles and e-scooters, while 102 meritorious students will receive scholarships of Rs 1 lakh each.

Madhya Pradesh is celebrating its 71st Foundation Day. A three-day Rajyotsav is being held at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal from 1 to 3 November. The theme of this year’s festival is heritage to development. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the modern agriculture exhibition, development gallery, women entrepreneurship pavilion and the regional cuisine fair at 11 AM on 1 November, and inaugurated the main cultural ceremony at 6:30 PM the same evening. On the second day, 2 November, more than 20 folk and tribal dance performances from Madhya Pradesh and other states are the centre of attraction in the evening, while folk singer Mame Khan will close the festival with his performance on 3 November.

What is the Kisan Swabhiman Parv quiz

As part of the Kisan Kalyan Varsh 2026, an online quiz competition called the Kisan Swabhiman Parv quiz was organised in the state. The competition ran from 29 January to 15 March 2026. Around 40,000 farmers from across the state took part in it. The aim of the quiz was to connect farmers with government schemes, modern farming methods and information related to farmer welfare. A merit list of farmers who answered the questions correctly was prepared, and the winners were then selected through a lottery process.

The quiz was special because it was held online, which meant that a farmer sitting in a village could also take part from a mobile phone. This is why participation reached around 40,000. Through such competitions, the government is trying to reach farmers directly and spread awareness about schemes and modern agriculture.

How the 165 winners were selected

District-wise lists of farmers who answered all the questions correctly were prepared. A lottery was then drawn under the supervision of a selection committee. Through this lottery, 165 winners were selected from all 55 districts of the state. Three farmers from each district were chosen for the awards. This ensured that the awards were not limited to one district or region but covered the entire state.

The lottery method was adopted to keep the selection process transparent. Every farmer on the merit list got an equal opportunity. After the lottery, the list of three winners from each district was released. These winners are now being honoured on the Rajyotsav stage.

Who gets what prize

The 165 winners are being given prizes in three categories. As the first prize, 55 tractors are being given. One winner from each district will get a tractor. As the second prize, 55 Bullet motorcycles are being given. One winner from each district will get a Bullet motorcycle. As the third prize, 55 e-scooters are being given. One winner from each district will get an e-scooter. In all, 165 prizes are being distributed.

A tractor is not just a vehicle for a farmer, it is the most important companion in farming. It is used for ploughing, sowing, transport and carrying produce to the mandi. A Bullet motorcycle is a dependable means of travel in rural areas. An e-scooter is a modern, low-cost vehicle that is also better for the environment. All three prizes are connected with the everyday needs of farmers.

Chief Minister to honour Bhopal winners, ministers in charge in districts

The winners from Bhopal district will be honoured by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav himself at the state-level ceremony. Winners from other districts will be honoured by the ministers in charge of their respective districts. This arrangement means that winners in every district will be honoured in their own district, and the celebration will spread across the whole state.

Being honoured on the Rajyotsav stage is a matter of pride for the winning farmers, because this festival is the biggest event of the state’s Foundation Day. It also inspires other farmers to take part in such competitions in future.

102 meritorious students also honoured

Along with farmers, meritorious students are also being honoured at Rajyotsav. As many as 102 talented students of the state are being given a scholarship of Rs 1 lakh each along with a certificate of appreciation under the meritorious students scholarship. This scholarship is being given to students who have performed excellently in their studies. The amount of Rs 1 lakh will help them in their further education.

For students from farming families and rural areas, such a scholarship has special importance. Many students are unable to pursue higher education because of financial constraints. The scholarship amount will help them continue their studies. Honouring students on the Rajyotsav stage also sends a positive message about education in society.

Agriculture exhibition and cultural programmes at Rajyotsav

Around 200 exhibition stalls have been set up by the agriculture and allied departments at Rajyotsav. These stalls are giving information about new farming methods, modern machines, improved seeds, organic farming inputs and farmer-friendly government schemes. The agriculture exhibition will remain open to the public from 12 noon to 8 PM on 2 and 3 November. Farmer tours, training sessions and seminars have also been arranged on these two days, in which master trainers and agricultural scientists from various departments will give farmers important information. The animal husbandry department is also displaying good breeds of animals.

Other exhibitions such as heritage to development, public welfare and development, and Raja Bhoj’s Bhopal have also been set up at Rajyotsav. These exhibitions give information about the historical and cultural heritage of the state, its development achievements and its glorious traditions. The women entrepreneurship pavilion displays products of women entrepreneurs. The regional cuisine fair offers a glimpse of the tastes and local food of different regions of the state. Farmers’ products are also being sold at the farmer market.

As far as cultural programmes are concerned, playback singer Monali Thakur performed on the first day. On the second day, 2 November, folk and tribal dance performances are being held from 6:30 PM, followed by an instrument-focused performance. On the third day, 3 November, folk singer Mame Khan will close the festival with his singing.

Farmer-focused initiatives in Kisan Kalyan Varsh

The year 2025 was celebrated as Industry Year, while the year 2026 has been dedicated as Kisan Kalyan Varsh, or Farmer Welfare Year. Special attention is being given to the development of the agriculture sector in this year. At the inauguration of Rajyotsav, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had said that Madhya Pradesh is ahead of all states in industry, employment, agriculture, milk production, tourism and heritage conservation. He had also said that investment worth Rs 12 lakh crore has come to the ground in the state and that this process will continue.

In Kisan Kalyan Varsh, the emphasis is on increasing farmers’ incomes, taking modern technology to farmers and ensuring that the benefits of schemes reach farmers directly. The agriculture exhibition, training sessions and seminars are steps in this direction. The Kisan Swabhiman Parv quiz is also part of this effort, in which farmers got both information about schemes and an opportunity to win prizes.
