New Delhi Bureau
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav global conference at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday and address the gathering. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the inauguration ceremony will be held at 11 AM on Friday. The three-day conference will conclude on Sunday, with more than 9,000 participants from India and abroad expected to attend.

The conference marks the culmination of year-long celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission. The mission was founded by Swami Chinmayanand in 1951 with the aim of spreading the knowledge of Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita to people across the world.
Today’s Programme at Bharat Mandapam
As per the information shared by the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, PM Modi will reach Bharat Mandapam at 11 AM to formally inaugurate the global conference and will then deliver an address. The global head of the Chinmaya Mission, Swami Swaroopananda, along with scholars, saints and devotees from India and abroad, will be present on the occasion.
The three-day conference will feature wide-ranging deliberations on Vedanta philosophy, the message of the Bhagavad Gita and the Indian knowledge tradition. Delegates from every corner of the country and from several overseas centres of the mission are expected to take part.
75 Years of Legacy: The Story of Swami Chinmayanand
The founding story of the Chinmaya Mission is itself an inspiring tale. Swami Chinmayanand was a journalist in his early life. He went to the Himalayas to find out what sadhus and saints actually do. There he met saints like Swami Sivananda and Swami Tapovan, whose lives deeply influenced him.
After studying Vedanta and the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in the Himalayas, Swami Chinmayanand realised that the youth of India did not have adequate knowledge of their glorious knowledge, culture and spiritual heritage. He then resolved to take the message of Vedanta and the Gita across the country and laid the foundation of the Chinmaya Mission in 1951.
Swami Chinmayanand believed that a nation changes only when the individual changes. With this conviction, he began Gita Jnana Yajnas across the country, through which people were taught about the purpose of life, duty and values. Today, the Chinmaya Mission has active centres in many countries around the world.
Connecting Youth with the Gita: The Mission’s Goal
The global head of the Chinmaya Mission, Swami Swaroopananda, has said that the mission’s aim is not merely to spread spiritual knowledge, but to take the Indian knowledge tradition to the masses for the overall uplift of the individual, society and the nation.
According to Swami Swaroopananda, a major goal of this global conference is to connect young people with the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. In an age when the younger generation is drifting away from its roots in the fast pace of modernity, conveying the Gita’s message to them in simple and relevant language is the mission’s priority.
What the Three-Day Conference Holds
The mega conference, running from October 23 to 25, will host multiple sessions. These will cover various aspects of Vedanta philosophy, the practical message of the Gita, the contemporary relevance of Indian culture and the role of spiritual wisdom in global peace.
Cultural programmes will also be organised during the conference, including Indian classical music and spiritual presentations. Delegates from abroad will share their experiences, giving the conference a truly global character.
Expectations from the Prime Minister’s Address
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a deep connection with spiritual and cultural events. In his addresses, he often speaks about the global message of the Indian knowledge tradition, yoga and Vedanta. His address at this conference is considered significant for both the youth and the spiritual world.
Notably, the Prime Minister’s Office announced the programme on Thursday itself, after which there is enthusiasm among devotees across the country. Elaborate security and logistical arrangements have been made at Bharat Mandapam.
The Culmination of Year-Long Celebrations
This global conference is the culmination of year-long celebrations marking 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission. Multiple programmes were held through the year at various centres in India and abroad, including Gita Jnana Yajnas, scholarly seminars and cultural events. The mega conference at Bharat Mandapam is the crowning event, where followers of the mission as well as common devotees will gather in large numbers.
Swami Swaroopananda says the mission’s goal is to take the Indian knowledge tradition to the masses for the overall uplift of the individual, society and the nation — a spirit that will reflect in every session of this conference.
What Next
The three-day Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav global conference will conclude on Sunday, October 25. The valedictory session may present a roadmap of the mission’s future work and global expansion plans. The culmination ceremony of the Chinmaya Mission’s 75-year journey is being seen as a symbol of the global impact of India’s spiritual tradition.
