Varanasi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Sunday, October 25. The centrepiece of the visit will be the first-ever Indian Air Force air show over the Ganges at Namo Ghat — the first time IAF fighter jets will perform breathtaking manoeuvres in the skies above the holy river in Kashi. The Prime Minister will attend the air show as the chief guest. The Bharatiya Janata Party has set up 13 welcome points across the city and district, where he will be greeted amid drum beats, conch-shell blowing and showers of flowers. A review meeting of the preparations was held on Thursday at the party’s regional office in Rohaniya.

First-Ever IAF Air Show Over the Ganges

The air show over the Ganges at Namo Ghat will be a historic moment for Varanasi. IAF fighter jets will perform one stunning manoeuvre after another in the sky, watched by thousands gathered on the ghats. The roar of the jets above the river will be an unforgettable sight for the people of Kashi. The Air Force has been organising air shows in various cities across the country from time to time, and these events always draw large crowds — but staging it over the Ganges in Kashi makes it truly special. Against the ancient backdrop of the ghats, the aerial display could become one of the most memorable air shows in the country. Security and organisational preparations by the administration and the Air Force are in their final stages.

Tentative Itinerary for October 25

According to information reported by news agency IANS, Prime Minister Modi will arrive at Varanasi airport at around 10 am on October 25. From there he will travel by helicopter to Mirzamurad, where he will inaugurate the Arvind Mill. Around noon, he will reach the Police Lines by helicopter and then proceed by road to Namo Ghat. At Namo Ghat, he will attend the Indian Air Force air show over the Ganges — the centrepiece of his Kashi visit. During the road journey from the Police Lines to Namo Ghat, a large number of BJP workers and Kashi residents will greet him at the welcome points set up along the route.

13 Welcome Points: Drums, Conch Shells and Flower Showers

The BJP has set up 13 welcome points across Varanasi city and district. According to news agency ANI, party workers and residents will welcome the Prime Minister with drum beats, conch-shell blowing, damru performances and showers of flowers. Cultural music and dance programmes showcasing Indian heritage will also be organised. As per IANS, chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Shri Ram” will also echo during the welcome. Women workers of the BJP Mahila Morcha will extend a special welcome to the Prime Minister at the Police Line Gate. Of the welcome points, workers from Varanasi Metropolitan will manage eight locations, while the district unit will take charge at four. Workers from all party fronts, cells and departments will participate to keep the festive atmosphere alive along the entire route.

Preparations Reviewed at Rohaniya Meeting

A meeting of the management team was held on Thursday at the BJP regional office in Rohaniya to review the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit, the proposed programmes and the welcome arrangements. The meeting was chaired by BJP regional president Ashok Chaurasia. He said organising the air show in Varanasi was a matter of pride for the people, adding that children and young people were particularly enthusiastic about the event. He directed that all arrangements for the Prime Minister’s welcome must be completed on time. Responsibilities have been assigned to selected workers across various departments for smooth conduct of the visit — including protocol, vehicle arrangements, city decoration, banners and hoardings, media, social media, information technology, medical facilities, parking and welcome arrangements.

Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath Expected

According to reports citing news agency ANI, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are also likely to attend the air show at Namo Ghat. In view of the Air Force’s mega event, tight security arrangements are being made in and around Namo Ghat. Senior police and administration officials are monitoring the preparations to ensure the event passes off smoothly.

A Moment of Pride for Kashi

Varanasi is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, which he has represented since 2014. The redevelopment of the Ganga ghats, the construction of Namo Ghat and projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor have become hallmarks of his tenure. The Air Force air show over the Ganges will add a new chapter to Kashi’s story of development and pride. A large turnout is expected, which will also boost local tourism and trade. The city’s youth are especially excited about the event, as watching Air Force jets from such close quarters will be a rare experience for them.

What Next: PM’s UP Engagements Ahead of Polls

According to reports citing ANI, the October 25 visit could also mark the beginning of the Prime Minister’s series of engagements in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Assembly elections. Sources say the BJP is planning around a dozen rallies and programmes across the state’s 18 divisions, including inauguration of development projects, foundation stones and public meetings. The final itinerary and dates of these programmes are yet to be finalised.
