Indore Bureau
The Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Summit-2026 is set to take place on October 23 and 24 at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will address the inaugural session, where he is expected to lay out his vision of turning Madhya Pradesh into a semiconductor hub. More than 50 companies will showcase their technologies and products at the summit, spanning chip design, advanced packaging, testing, equipment and electronics manufacturing.
The summit is being seen as a major opportunity for Madhya Pradesh in the technology sector, because semiconductors are among the most critical technologies in the world today. From mobile phones to cars, medical devices and defence systems — every modern technology runs on chips. States that build a semiconductor ecosystem now will stay ahead in the race for investment and jobs in the coming decades.
Summit agenda: 8 panels, 5 roundtables, 2 keynotes
Over the two days, the summit will host 8 panel discussions, 5 roundtable meetings and 2 keynote sessions. The first day will focus on themes such as the ATP (Assembly, Testing and Packaging) hub, the fabless ecosystem, AI infrastructure and supply chains. Industry experts, investors, policymakers and researchers from India and abroad are expected to participate.
The panels will also deliberate on what role Madhya Pradesh can play in chip design and packaging. The fabless ecosystem — where companies design chips while fabrication happens at external foundries — is considered the most practical entry point for India. Discussion on AI infrastructure matters because the age of artificial intelligence is driving a sharp rise in demand for high-performance chips.
Rs 6,200 crore Paras semiconductor investment proposal on the agenda
The proposed Rs 6,200 crore Paras semiconductor investment will also figure in the summit’s discussions. If it materialises, it would rank among the largest technology investments Madhya Pradesh has ever seen. The deliberations are expected to cover land, power, water, skilled manpower and policy incentives. Industry watchers will keenly note what facilities and concessions the government promises to investors.
Link with SEMICON India 2026
It may be recalled that SEMICON India 2026 was held in Delhi, where Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited the Madhya Pradesh pavilion. There he met representatives of domestic and foreign semiconductor companies and invited them to invest in the state. The Indore summit is being viewed as the next step in that chain — an attempt to convert the contacts made in Delhi into concrete investment proposals.
Why Indore: the city’s technology credentials
Choosing Indore for the summit is no coincidence. Indore is Madhya Pradesh’s largest commercial and industrial centre, already home to IT parks, a startup ecosystem and educational institutions. Institutes such as IIT Indore are significant for research and skilled manpower. The city’s connectivity, infrastructure and national reputation for cleanliness also appeal to investors.
MP’s semiconductor vision
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said on several occasions that making Madhya Pradesh a semiconductor hub is his vision. Under the central government’s semiconductor policy, several states are competing to attract investment in this sector. Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Assam are already ahead in the race. For Madhya Pradesh, this summit is a platform to strengthen its claim.
The state government is also expected to announce a special policy for semiconductor units, with subsidies and single-window clearances among the likely incentives. If the policy is investor-friendly, design centres, packaging units and testing labs could come up in the state.
What it means for jobs and youth
The biggest benefit of a semiconductor ecosystem is seen in the high-skill employment it can generate for young people. There is strong demand for engineers in chip design, verification, packaging and testing. If companies set up units in Indore and other cities of the state, new career options will open up for students of local engineering colleges and ITIs. Announcements on skill development programmes are also possible at the summit.
What next
After the inaugural session on October 23, all eyes will be on how many MoUs (memoranda of understanding) are signed over the two days and what progress is made on the Rs 6,200 crore investment proposal. The announcements the government makes after the summit will decide how far Madhya Pradesh goes in the national semiconductor race.
