Budget scooters (₹1–1.36 lakh): three new choices
The busiest action this month is in the budget electric scooter segment. E3 Electric began deliveries of the Trion from its Hyderabad plant today (7 October) — three variants: the C1 at ₹1 lakh (108 km range), the C1x at ₹1.10 lakh (165 km) and the C2 at ₹1.20 lakh (128 km).
Ampere launched the Nexus EX+ on 5 October — priced at ₹1.30 and ₹1.36 lakh, with a 3 kWh LFP battery, 136 km (IDC) of range, a 5 kW motor and over 30 connected features. September’s launch, the Honda QC3, also makes this list — ₹1.35 lakh (Delhi), a 3.0 kWh fixed battery, 145 km (IDC) of range and 32 litres of storage.
Luxury EVs (₹1–1.5 crore): Volvo’s two flagships

On 12 October, Volvo will launch its two flagship electric vehicles in India — the EX90 SUV and the ES90 sedan. Both pack a 106 kWh battery and a 456 hp/670 Nm powertrain. The company claims 696 km (WLTP) for the ES90 and 608 km (WLTP) for the EX90.
Built on an 800V architecture, both support DC fast charging up to 350 kW — a 10 to 80 per cent top-up takes barely about 22 minutes. Official prices are still awaited; estimates place the ES90 at roughly ₹1.00–1.10 crore and the EX90 between ₹1.20 and 1.50 crore (ex-showroom).
Ultra-luxury: the ₹3.35 crore Maybach S 580e
Launched on 6 October, the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is India’s first plug-in hybrid Maybach. A 3.0-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor delivers 585 hp, while the 22 kWh usable battery offers up to 98 km (WLTP) of range in EV mode. Only 30 units will be available at launch.
Who should pick what
For everyday commuting, the budget scooters are the most practical choice — Trion deliveries started today. If you want long range combined with luxury, keep an eye on Volvo’s two flagships, and for those chasing exclusivity, there is the Maybach S 580e.
